In steel pipe sheet pile construction, it is necessary to bond the sidewalls to the footing concrete and steel pipe sheet piles. In order to perform these functions, the Bar Stud Method, in which moment and shear bars are stud-welded directly to the sides of steel pipe sheet piles, was adopted in the Road Bridge Instruction and Commentary IV lower structure (Japan Highway Public Works Association). We have a lot of experience with the NSW stud method of construction.
