Caisson・Immersed tube

Immersed tunnel is a tunnel made with immersed construction method where ditch is dug on the sea floor in advance and caisson which is made on the ground is sunk and covered with soil. When making tunnel on the sea floor, it can be made shallower and shorter than excavation and shield tunnel.
This is one of the sea floor tunnel construction methods which are widely adopted.
